At the garden party on Sunday there was a whole discussion as to whether this was an almond tree or a peach tree!
Well, it was bought as an almond tree and when at last it flowered I thought they were almonds… but alas no they are peaches! I can only assume it was grafted on to peach stock, the almond bit died and the original peach stock grew on. This year it is covered in peaches.

How odd. If a peach tree dies back, the understock often regenerates as an almond tree, although not a very good almond. It is grown for roots, not nuts.
