September is almost over

*

A late rose, dahlias and berries.  Sums up late September I suppose.  Still virtually no rain but the nights are now pretty cold, though luckily no frost so far, so lots of dew in the mornings.

Very little is left in the veggie plot, some late beans and some beetroot plus of course the brassicas.

Remember the peach tree, well it delivered close to 30 kilos of peaches.  I have made peach everything plus given lots away to friends plus got things back which is a fair swap system.  Below is a small collection…E228FBC2-DD1F-476A-8EE7-6F571F1C83FC.jpeg

The asters are all out, smaller than usual but at least with a lot of flowers.  Below are some of them.

  1. What odd peaches. Are they a cultivar of white peach? I now people grow them in home gardens here, but I do not often see the fruit. Mine is an old fashioned type with a prominent red blush to the fruit. Not many of the orchards that used to be here grew peaches, and those that did grew cling peaches for canning. I do not know much about them. They are not popular for home gardening. I do not know why they were so good for canning. I would guess that they stay a bit more firm when cooked.
