Autumn is, I think, a sad time of year. Beautiful but sad. Sad for gardeners that is. We watch as everything slowly dies but also with hope for the following year. We make improvements, change things around, plant new things and hope, most of all hope, that the next year will be a good year!
It is not all that sad. Only annuals die, as they should. They make room for cool season annuals and vegetables. Bare trees are just dormant and resting to get ready for next years. Well, you know that.

I agree but I still find it sad. Yes the perrenials will come back next year but in the meantime it is very bare. It gives us a chance to mulch and feed and generally clear up.
